Gear Up for Great Futures
Save the Date for Our 2015 Ride!
September 12, 2015
ABOUT THE EVENT
Gear Up for Great Futures offers a variety of rides to choose from depending on your endurance level.
For a more leisurely ride, sign up for the 15 mile route. It’s a great opportunity for beginning cyclists participating in their first organized ride. The route takes you to Dewey, home of the Tom Mix Museum and annual Wild West Show, before heading back to the Club.
Wanting to push yourself a little harder? Our 50 mile ride will take you on a scenic tour through Dewey, Copan and the Northeastern Oklahoma countryside where you are sure to spot plenty of cattle and pump jacks while making new friends along the way.
If you’re feeling adventurous the 100 mile route may be for you! This ride takes you through Dewey and Copan before crossing the border into Southeastern Kansas to roll through Caney, Havana, Independence (home of the Little House on the Prairie) and Tyro.
The 50 and 100 mile rides are fully supported with rest stops every 20 miles and sag to pick up distressed riders.
One of the Boys & Girls Clubs’ major goals is to encourage kids to lead healthy lifestyles. To grow this initiative, we have added a FREE 5 mile family ride to get families out on their bikes to enjoying the great outdoors. The event will educate participants on basic bicycle safety including how to safely approach busy streets, railroad tracks and other obstacles.
