We need more kids like Tre
Fourteen-year-old Tre has been involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Bartlesville since age six but has attended regularly for the past three years. Throughout his childhood, Tre has struggled with many personal challenges in school. He was frequently bullied and struggled to maintain good grades and stay out of trouble. He found himself in in-school suspension and detention frequently.

“His anger and aggression faded away as his self-esteem grew”
Tre’s mother, Angela, credits the Boys & Girls Club with helping him get back on track. “The Club focused on building his self-esteem and everything else fell in place. Tre was afraid to ask for help on homework at school but not at the Club. His anger and aggression faded away as his self-esteem grew”, states Angela. Tre now lets his greatness shine through and wants to help others and be a positive mentor for younger kids. His grades have improved and he has had no disciplinary actions at school. His attitude has improved at home as well, especially in his interaction with siblings and elders. In honor of Tre’s turnaround, he was awarded the coveted Youth of the Month award.
“We are very proud of Tre and his transformation over the past year. His positive attitude and respect for others will take him very far. We are excited to see what he will accomplish as he grows into a great young man and leader in our Club.” states Keith Goree, Unit Director at the Boys & Girls Club.
